چکیده

Periodic arrays of nanoholes perforated in metallic thin films interact strongly with light and produce large electromagnetic near-field enhancements their vicinity. As a result, the optical response these systems is very sensitive to changes dielectric environment, thus making them an exceptional platform for development compact sensors. Given that already operate at shot-noise limit when used as sensors, sensing capabilities can be enhanced beyond this by probing quantum light, such squeezed or entangled states. Motivated goal, here, we present comparative theoretical analysis nanohole one two holes per unit cell. Through detailed investigation response, find two-hole array supports resonances are narrower stronger than its one-hole counterpart, therefore have higher fundamental sensitivity defined Cram\'er-Rao bound. We validate analyzed experimental measurements reflectance representative samples. The results work advance our understanding pave way developing platforms capable taking full advantage resources offered states light.

Dielectrophoresis-Enhanced Plasmonic Sensing with Gold Nanohole Arrays

We experimentally demonstrate dielectrophoretic concentration of biological analytes on the surface of a gold nanohole array, which concurrently acts as a nanoplasmonic sensor and gradient force generator. The combination of nanohole-enhanced dielectrophoresis, electroosmosis, and extraordinary optical transmission through the periodic gold nanohole array enables real-time label-free detection ...

Graphene-enhanced plasmonic nanohole arrays for environmental sensing in aqueous samples

The label-free nature of surface plasmon resonance techniques (SPR) enables a fast, specific, and sensitive analysis of molecular interactions. However, detection of highly diluted concentrations and small molecules is still challenging. It is shown here that in contrast to continuous gold films, gold nanohole arrays can significantly improve the performance of SPR devices in angle-dependent me...

Laser-illuminated nanohole arrays for multiplex plasmonic microarray sensing.

Surface plasmon resonance (SPR) imaging is a powerful technique for high-throughput, real-time, label-free characterization of molecular interactions in a microarray format. In this paper, we demonstrate SPR imaging with nanohole arrays illuminated by a laser source. Periodic nanoholes couple incident photons into SPs, obviating the need for the prism used in conventional SPR instruments, while...

Lattice resonances in antenna arrays for liquid sensing in the terahertz regime.

Terahertz antenna arrays supporting narrow lattice resonances are proposed as an alternative sensor-on-chip approach to liquid sensing. An array of metallic rectangular antennas fabricated on a polyethylene naphthalate (PEN) substrate is used to demonstrate the sensing of a number of fluids. Good agreement is shown between experiment and simulation with Q-factors of around 20 and a figure-of-me...

Basis and lattice polarization mechanisms for light transmission through nanohole arrays in a metal film.

The extraordinary light transmission through double-hole and elliptical nanohole arrays in a thin gold film is investigated for different orientations of the holes relative to the lattice. Even though these bases have similar symmetry characteristics, the polarization follows the orientation of the basis for the ellipse but remains fixed along a lattice vector for the double holes. Furthermore,...
